The Bride and Groom

HOW WE MET

In 2008, Alex was a sophomore at the University of Delaware when Gabby first arrived on campus. Both hailing from Marlboro, NJ - living off of the same main road and graduating from Colts Neck High School, it came as a shock that they had never spoken. Well, that all changed in the spring of 2009 when Gabby's sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha, paired up with Alex's fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI). On the first night of "Greek Week" Gabby and Alex finally met and instantly became close friends and remained just that throughout college. A few years later when Alex was living in New York City pursuing his career in marketing and Gabby was in Philadelphia studying for her Master's in Occupational Therapy, they shared their first kiss on New Year's Eve of 2012. After that night, their friendship blossomed and a new relationship began. Almost every weekend after that was spent visiting each other in their respective cities, exploring New York and Philadelphia together. Three years of long distance traveling, phone calls, and Words With Friends games later, Gabby and Alex decided to move in and start their life together in Red Bank, NJ. Just 7 days shy of their 5 year anniversary, on May 27th, 2017 Alex FINALLY popped the question!

THE ENGAGEMENT

Down in Ortley Beach, NJ for Memorial Day weekend, Alex made plans to give Gabby the best surprise of her life. After creating a fake website advertising a Bruce Springsteen cover band concert on the Bay, Alex made plans with both of their families to attend the special event. He then made dinner reservations near the location where it would all take place. When the day arrived, Gabby was initially not happy with the "early bird" 5PM dinner reservation, but she eventually agreed to go. During dinner, Alex excused himself from the table and called to let their families know dinner was almost over and to text Gabby the information about the concert to see if she would want to go. When Alex returned to the table, Gabby was holding her phone out and asking to go see the Bruce Springsteen cover band. Of course Alex happily agreed to go. When Alex and Gabby arrived at the location, the sun was setting and everything was perfect. Gabby was surprised the location was empty and no concert was going on. At this point Alex led Gabby away from the car and towards the Gazebo. Alex got down on one knee and asked Gabby to be his wife. She of course said "Yes". The two families, who were hiding in the bushes nearby rushed out and congratulated the couple.
